Shanghai West Golf Club

The club is located in Zhouzhuang, some 70 kilometers from Shanghai. Sometimes referred to as “China’s Most Famous Water Town”, Zhouzhuang is criss-crossed with canals and ancient stone arched-bridges, with close to sixty percent of its houses built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The G50 and other numerous highways are close by.

The course was designed by one of Japan's most famous golfers, Tsutomu Irie. The club house was designed by Japanese architect Toru Kosumi and apart from quiet ponds and serene walled gardens, there are also Japanese bath facilities.

There is a practice area, a driving range - one of the largest natural grass ones in the greater Shanghai aread - as well as a pro shop.

An 18-hole championship course with moderately broad fairways for the novice golfer, but still being challenging enough for the more seasoned player. Without any out-of-bounds, the waterways that line the fairways or cross between holes still require concentrated play.

The course design by Tsutomu Irie offers up many interesting holes such as the long par 5 hole number 9 and the rather short par 4 hole number 7 that can be very tricky to approach due to canals and an unusually shaped green.
