Nine Dragons is located on the southern coast from Shanghai, right on the northern shores of Hangzhou Bay. Being situated 90 kilometres from Shanghai and Hangzhou the golf resort can be reached from most areas on the east coast. Nine Dragon is one of the largest resorts in the Shanghai area, besides golf there is a yacht club, polo club, theme park and even a race car circuit. The Shanghai resident being used to no elevation of any kind, should welcome the natural landscape of the surrounding Mount Waipo and a national forest park.

The golf course is as scenic as its surroundings, and at times spectacular. The 27 holes consist of the Ocean Course, Lake Course and the Quarry Course, where the latter will offer you some very memorabale holes with fairways and greens being gently carved out from an old quarry by the designer Ron Garl.

Nine Dragons might well be worth a weekend trip. There is even West Sandy Bay Beach in the vicinity, but that might be a debatable choice given your affinity for crowds.

Or as the club's website puts it: "The beach has pristine sand with clear surrounding water. On a busy day, each year, the beach receives around 20,000 swimmers from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Jiaxing, and Suzhou."
